Tips from the owners

Local things to do, places to eat and attractions not to be missed.

  • Drayton Manor and Thomas Land are only half an hours drive from The Old Stables, and great for a day out whatever your age.

  • Twycross Zoo is another popular family attraction, where you can get up close to the chimps, or ape about in the soft play area.

  • Budding historians should head to Bosworth Battlefield Heritage Centre where you can also enjoy craft activities and seasonal events and shows.

  • Families with a taste for snowsports will be in their (chilly!) element with the huge snowdome at Tamworth, as well as outdoor skiing and a toboggan run at Swadlincote.

  • The National Forest Adventure Farm near Burton on Trent has great indoor and outdoor attractions for younger children.
