Blairmore Farm

Child friendly farm, Perth & Kinross

About Blairmore Farm

Blairmore Farm comprises beautifully converted cottages overlooking the Strathearn Valley, in Scotland’s heartland.  These gorgeous (dog as well as child friendly) cottages, set in the most picturesque of places, have everything you could possibly need for a fabulous family holiday. The exquisitely converted buildings are part of a farm where owners Ailsa and James live and work, and offer you a wonderfully warm welcome. Farm activities will delight young and old - from picking your own veg to herding chickens(!), and the option of delicious home-cooked meals from the Farm Kitchen means that everyone gets a break at Blairmore.

The Cottages

The 6 cottages have been expertly converted inside and out, giving you the best of traditional rural charm, original features and modern comfort. Wood-burning stoves, gorgeous Scottish-inspired textiles, huge windows and private gardens make these perfect family homes-from home whatever the weather.

All feature fully equipped (lovely!) kitchens, and homely living areas with TVs and DVD players. Zip-link beds give you the right combination of doubles and twins for your stay, all made up with luxurious cotton linen. You’ll also find fluffy white towels, robes and slippers in your rooms. Bliss.

Gardener’s Cottage (sleeps 4) is a cosy two bedroomed (both ensuite) cottage with panoramic views from the dual aspect lounge window.

Orchard Cottage (sleeps 4) has two bedrooms, two bathrooms and a specially design ramp system instead of stairs.

Coachman’s Cottage (sleeps 4-6) has 2 double en-suite bedrooms and a sofa-bed in the lounge. Beautiful stone arches are complemented by large bright windows with spectacular views.

Strathview Cottage (sleeps 8) has 4 double en-suite bedrooms, a large open-plan living space and wonderful views over the valley from both indoors and from the outside space.

Ard View (sleeps 10) is a substantial five en-suite bedroom house with a large open-plan living space with full wheelchair accessibility to both floors, serviced by a contemporary glass fronted lift.

Doves Cottage (sleeps 2) is a one-bedroom cottage with original 19th century cathedral style window and vaulted ceilings. A relaxing space that’s perfect for grandparents who prefer their own accommodation.

Food & Drink

Welcome hampers are packed with delicious local produce, as well as coffee, tea and kitchen essentials so you’ll have everything you need for a quiet cuppa and snack on arrival. The small farm shop and seasonal market garden mean you can order bread, home-grown veg and home-bred beef, lamb and pork on site - zero food miles and super fresh!

If you’re in need of a night off the cooking, or fancy a picnic for a day out then the Farm Kitchen will be happy to provide everything from cakes and cookies to full family meals (with pudding!), freshly prepared and popped in the oven at a time to suit you.

You can order a supermarket delivery for your first evening or morning, and if there are any little bits and bobs you’ve forgotten just pop to reception and the staff will do all they can to help.

Kids and Parents

The cottages are wonderfully designed for family holidays, many with downstairs bathrooms and open-plan living spaces. Private outdoor areas with BBQs are a great place to relax and absorb the breathtaking views over the Strathearn Valley whilst the kids burn off some energy.

Baby Packs can be provided for an additional charge and include cot with linens, highchair, baby bath, nappy bin, child gates and bumble seats. Bottle warmers are available on request.

There’s loads to do on the farm, and owners Ailsa and James are always grateful for an extra pair of hands. Getting involved with farm life is a great way to gain a better understanding of where tonight’s dinner has come from, and you can even pick your own veg in Blairmore’s market garden. Ask for a guided farm tour- a great way to get your bearings and quiz the owners on activities and attractions. Animal enthusiasts will love feeding time on the farm and learning to “wrangle” (steer) the chickens!  And after all that exploring relax with a DVD, book or game from the library. Wifi is also available should you or the kids need to get online.

Away from the farm you’ll find attractions and activities a-plenty. Blairmore’s position in the Scottish heartland means you’re only 90 minutes drive from the historic and beautiful cities of Edinburgh, Glasgow and St Andrews  - all perfect for a day out with all the family.

And for days out closer to home Auchingarrich Wildlife Centre , with farm animals, indoor and outdoor play areas, mini golf, tractor and pony rides, is a great day out for families with young children.  Families with older children will enjoy the thrills of an aqua adventure at Splash White Water Rafting.

Those with a taste for something gentler will enjoy being immersed in the Iron-Age with a visit to the The Scottish Crannog Centre - a unique, award-winning living history museum with hands-on demonstrations of ancient crafts and technologies. Or escape into woodland trails, stroll by Loch Dunmore and explore the diverse wildlife at beautiful Faskally Forest.

The Owners: Ailsa and James

“We own and run Blairmore Farm and call it home too.  We have both travelled extensively around the world, bringing back our experience and understanding of the nice little touches we all appreciate. All the staff at Blairmore want you to enjoy your time here as much as we do, so feel free to pick our brains for lots of local knowledge.”

Quiet relaxation and family adventures await you at these beautiful self-catering cottages.
