Torridge House Farm Cottages

Child friendly farm, Devon – Child Friendly Cottages on a small Farm, North Devon

About Torridge House Farm Cottages

Tucked away in the Devon countryside, with unspoilt panoramic views of wooded valleys, rolling hills and distant farms, Torridge House is an old rectory with a group of cottages around a green, with the shared use of a pool. The team at Torridge House goes to great lengths to cater for families and provide a friendly, laid back, relaxing setting for all the family to have a really good time. There are lots of animals to help watch or feed, nine lovely family-friendly self catering cottages and an indoor games room for an alternative retreat when the weather does not play ball. With plenty of space in the sunny garden for children to play safely, a real-life children’s farm for hands-on action, an outdoor heated swimming and sandy beaches just 20 minutes away there is lots to do to keep everyone happy.

The child friendly cottages

Most of the apartments and cottages are either in wings of the house or in the farms converted outbuildings which open onto a lovely garden setting. There are nine properties to choose from within the complex which are homely, comfortable and well appointed. Blackout linings/blinds in the children's rooms are the norm. Nightlights, bedguards, full sized cots, highchairs and stair gates are freely available. The cottages are warm and cosy with central heating and either log fires (or log burning stoves) or real flame effect electric fires. Kitchens are newly fitted out with full electric cookers, microwaves, washing machines and dryers.

Torridge Farm

The small, friendly, family-run farm has panoramic views of glorious Devon countryside and has lots of animals to help feed. Youngsters are actively encouraged in the twice daily feeding of the pigs, piglets, chickens, ducks, mice, rabbits and guinea pigs. Involvement with the animal care and feeding is a rewarding, stimulating and exciting time for youngsters (and grown ups!). Children grow in confidence, relishing the interaction and routine of the twice daily feeding times. Don't forget to pack raincoats and wellies as rain doesn't stop play here. Puddles are for splashing in, mud is for squelching in, grassy banks are all the better for rolling down when they are wet.

Extras for Parents

Treat yourself to Marina’s highly acclaimed massage and holistic treatments. If you want a break from cooking, ask Chef Anne to deliver you a ready cooked chilled meal. Or even to cook a grand occasion meal for you in your cottage. Chill out with a barbecue right outside your cottage. Take a bottle to Jax’s pottery next door for girlie evening throwing, painting pots with a glass of wine. I would also highly recommend you to take the opportunity of ordering your groceries from Tesco to be delivered to your cottage ready for your arrival. It frees up valuable space in the car and you don't have to worry about dashing to the shops for necessities as soon as you arrive.
